Someone asked me the other day where I find challenge after all these years of training. I said what I’ve discovered is that the challenge comes from a deep inner desire to explore who we are on the inside and how we react to and act in the world around us. This interaction with the world is key to our personal success. Personal discipline within the context of our interactions is very important. I find training in martial arts helps with this. When training in the safe context of the dojo with mental discipline, one can work on the most basic idea or method which can lead to a path to getting unstuck. This freedom can move you to a way of moving and thinking that can lead to personal success. Taking time to understand the martial arts mind set in a healthy way is so important. I will never master martial arts nor ever profess to be a master of martial arts because the achievement of skill is unlimited and can last our entire lives. The next time you feel like you don’t have a challenge when training in martial arts, take time to first look at your approach and not the martial art system.

When studying martial arts, it is very important to study distance. When we are doing are drills and randori (free movement), focus on how distance can change based on intent and whether the fight is armed or unarmed. Also know how this judgment works in life

One of the great things about martial arts training is how we can explore who we are as people on the inside. When training, the ability to make a decision under pressure requires strong focus in the moment. Live in the moment. Plan for the future. Learn from the past.

One of the great things about Ninpo Taijutsu (Body skill training for Self Defense) is the freedom of movement and natural energy flow that are with in basics of training. Using the skills from breathing and natural expansion of the body found Ninpo Taijutsu, this will direct the body’s natural energy flow into an extraordinarily strong health promotion and self-defense method.
