“This past year (2014) has been a great year for deep learning about life and martial arts. The best lessons have not always conveniently fit with my way of looking at the world. They represent deep fears, biases, etc., about myself that I may not want to face. These things can manifest in the form of stubbornness and pushing away something, not acting on a problem, or fighting against our own best interest. They limit our success and our view of the world. If we can take time, be honest with ourselves, and face these things, we can find a whole new view of our life. Through the hardship of mindful martial arts training we can clear the path for finding inner peace. My teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes, and their teacher, Dr. Hatsumi, have had a profound impact on my life. I would like to thank them for their generous teaching. Also I would like to thank the members of New England Ninpo Society and the Boston Martial Arts Center. And, always, deep gratitude to my family. I’m looking forward to 2015 and more lessons.
